Internet Explorer 8 problems

Recently I updated my Internet browser to "Internet Explorer 8".

Please be aware that using IE8 does cause some unusual effect when viewing many website. This also includes the i9Forum.

Some dropdown menus do not appear in the correct place or your screen may appear to freeze.

These are issues with IE8 and not with the i9Forum.

To overcome this problem, press the "Compatibility View" button in the address bar of IE8.

This solves the problem.

Forum Maintenance

Today we had to take the i9Forum off line for 5 mins.

This was for routine maintenance and we expect this to last for 1 hour. Thankfully our work was completed faster than expected.

Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.

New Forum - For Sale

I've had a few members ask for a new forum to help sell their i9 accessories etc.

The new forum is called "For Sale" and is placed in the "Accessories" category.

It's worth noting that the i9forum has no responsibilities over the items sold in that forum.

Today's thought

As I sat here today, I began to wonder how many other people in the World currently own an i9 smartphone and can not find support from the manufacturer.

Well, who is the manufacturer? A question, one day will may get an answer to.

Anyway, back to my thought. How can I reach those people and let them know about our amazing i9 community?

I could try using “Google Adwords” however, that cost money and basically I do not have the funds needed to drive a successful Adwords Campaign.

The i9Forum is obviously free for it members but this does not mean the forum is free to run. You see the cost of hosting the i9Forum is quite high as it now uses a large amount of bandwidth and that costs.

I had to find a way to reach those un-supported i9 owners without costing money. Sure I could ask for Donations but as you can image, not many members actually donate a dime to the upkeep of the service.

I also do not have the time to investigate a free marketing campaign.

My only option is to ask the i9Forum members to help spread the word.

So if you are able to help spread the word about our community, I would really appreciate it.

You can do this by adding the i9Forum web site URL to your email signatures or by pointing your friends to the website.

The more people who join ensures the i9Forum will continue. Plus, more members means more knowledge to share.

We are 2 Months Old

It’s hard to believe that it was only 2 months ago the i9Forum sprang in to life.In that time we have:
~ Over 500 registered users
~ Total posts of over 1730
~ Total topics of over 408

So why did the i9Forum begin?
It started because I had just received my i9 and within a couple of days, found an icon displayed on the screen the manual did not explain. I search the Internet for some hours before realising that there was absolutely no support for the i9. Plenty of support for CECT 168 etc.
That’s when it dawned on me. If I was having this problem, I guess many others also faced the same bleak outlook. Not knowing to much about how to create a forum, let alone administer one, I started to create the i9Forum.

I did not expect that many people would join or that in a very short space of time, we would have this family of i9 users all looking to help each other and ourselves in the process.
So I would like to thank you all for your support, advice and continued input in making the i9Forum what it has become over the past 2 Months.

Oh! and did I found out what the icon was?
Yes… I had a voice mail on one of the SIMS.
I got there by just sitting and playing.
Sometimes it’s the only way!
